Salvation and Healing Come the Same Way
Foreword
The cross of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our salvation, healing, peace, and restoration. This teaching invites us to look beyond religious tradition and fix our eyes on the finished work of Christ.
Jesus did not merely offer forgiveness from a distanceโHe gave Himself completely for us. He bore our sins, carried our sorrows, and made the way for us to receive new life through faith. As we meditate on Godโs Word, may the Holy Spirit open our hearts to understand the fullness of Christโs sacrifice and strengthen our faith in His saving and healing power.
Let this message lead you from understanding into worship, from worship into faith, and from faith into a deeper experience of the presence of Jesus.
Salvation and Healing Come the Same Way
Godโs saving and healing power flows from the same finished work of Jesus Christ. At the cross, Jesus bore our sins, carried our shame, purchased our peace, and provided healing. We receive salvation and healing by faith in Him and by trusting the Word of God.
Jesus Bore Our Sin and Our Sickness
1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV) says: โWho Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousnessโby whose stripes you were healed.โ
Jesus bore our sins in His body like the scapegoat carried Israelโs sins away. His sacrifice dealt with sin and its consequences. Forgiveness and healing are both revealed in the atonementโthe finished work of Christ.
Isaiah 53:4โ5 (NKJV) declares: โSurely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows... He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.โ
Matthew confirms this fulfillment:
โHe Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknessesโ (Matthew 8:16โ17, NKJV).
Salvation and Healing Are Received by Faith
Romans 10:9โ10 gives us the point of contact for salvation: we believe in our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord. In the same way, Scripture gives us a point of contact for healing. We believe Godโs promise and confess His Word concerning healing.
For salvation, we stand on Romans 10:9โ10. For healing, we stand on Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24. Both are received through faith in Jesusโnot through human effort, worthiness, or religious works.
The Scapegoat Points to Christ
Leviticus 16:7โ10 describes the Day of Atonement. One goat was offered as a sin offering, while the otherโthe scapegoatโcarried Israelโs sins away into the wilderness. This points us to Jesus, who became our sin-bearer and carried away what separated us from God.
Because of Jesus, we can receive forgiveness, peace, restoration, and healing. He is our complete provision.
Stand on Godโs Word
It is no more difficult for God to save than to heal. When we struggle to believe, we need to be strengthened by hearing and meditating on Scripture. โFaith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Godโ (Romans 10:17).
Confess Godโs promises with faith:
โJesus is Lord, and God raised Him from the deadโ (Romans 10:9โ10).
โBy His stripes I was healedโ (1 Peter 2:24).
โBy His stripes we are healedโ (Isaiah 53:5).
โThe prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him upโ (James 5:15).
Our confidence is not in a formula; it is in Jesus Christ. Salvation and healing come from the same loving Savior, through the same finished work, and are received by grace through faith. It's just as easy to get healed as it is to get saved. This means that when you come to the altar to pray to get saved, you will also get healed when you get saved. Healing and salvation are given at once like a spoonful of medicine at God's altar ...
Lord Jesus, I believe in You. Thank You for bearing my sins and providing forgiveness, peace, and healing. Help me to trust Your Word, stand firm in faith, and walk in the righteousness and wholeness You have provided. Amen.
The Isaiah 53 Prophecy Revelation
Salvation and Healing Come at Once
In this verse Peter is quoting Isaiah 53:5. I want to tell you that salvation and healing come at the same time. When you ask for salvation, you also get healed. When you ask for healing, you also get saved. I want to tell you this with my paraphrase of 1 Peter 2:24 below to make you understand that salvation and healing come at once. God administers both salvation of your spirit and healing to your body by faith when you ask for salvation or healing.
1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV Paraphrased)ย says: โ{Jesus} Himself bore our sins in His own body on the {Cross}, that we {through faith}, having died to sins {in Him}, might live for righteousness {this is the resurrection}โby whose {wounds} you were healed {of sin and sickness}.โ
Epilogue
The finished work of Jesus remains our lasting hope. Because He bore our sins, we can walk in forgiveness and righteousness. Because He carried our sorrows and sicknesses, we can look to Him for peace, strength, restoration, and healing.
Our confidence is not in a formula, a feeling, or human ability. Our confidence is in Christโthe Lamb who was slain, the Savior who rose again, and the Healer who is still present with His people.
As you leave this teaching and enter worship, continue to hold Godโs Word in your heart. Guard your heart, keep your eyes on Jesus, and let faith rise within you. May the Lord bring salvation to the lost, healing to the sick, peace to the troubled, and renewed strength to everyone who trusts in Him.
โThe Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.โ โ Numbers 6:24โ25

23ย For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24ย And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25ย After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26ย For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lordโs death till he come.
Communion is a sacred remembrance of Jesus Christโs finished work on the cross. As we receive the bread and the cup in faith, we remember that His body was broken and His blood was shed for our salvation, forgiveness, restoration, and healing.
Do you know that taking communion is a point of contact for healing of sickness and healing of the difficult sins? Jesus healed both sickness and sin with His wounds. God forgives all sins, but sin is a physical bandage that God progressively sanctifies and mortifies. This is called Progressive Sanctification. Forgiveness of sins is a healing of the body because you have to learn to reverse what you've been used to doing. When you take Communion, God heals that sin that's hard to sanctify and mortify inside your body because He forgives it.
When you take Communion, God heals your body if sickness and sin. The sins that are hard to break are forgiven and healed because it is a fresh point of contact with God's saving and healing power in the Holy Spirit.
If you've been dealing with sin for a long time, taking Communion will give you a fresh start with God over those difficult sins ... he will forgive and heal your body. Don't be surprised if you fall under God's saving and healing power.
Scripture declares:
โWho his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.โ 1 Peter 2:24
Jesus carried both our sin and our sickness. Isaiah prophesied:
โSurely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrowsโฆ and with his stripes we are healed.โ Isaiah 53:4โ5
Matthew confirms that Jesusโ healing ministry fulfilled this promise:
โHimself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.โ Matthew 8:16โ17
Communion is not a ritual performed mechanically; it is a point of contact with Godโs saving and healing grace. Through the Holy Spirit, it reminds us that Jesus has already accomplished redemption through His sacrifice.
Our salvation begins with faith in Christ:
โThat if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.โ Romans 10:9โ10
Faith grows as we hear and receive Godโs Word:
โSo then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.โ Romans 10:17
As we take communion, we may bring before God our physical sickness, emotional wounds, sinful habits, and burdens that are difficult to overcome. God forgives our sins, and through progressive sanctification, He continually transforms us into the image of Christ. The Holy Spirit teaches us to put sinful patterns to death and walk in newness of life.
This process is described in Scripture as mortificationโputting to death the works of the fleshโand sanctification, being set apart and made holy for God. Communion gives us a fresh opportunity to remember the cross, receive Godโs forgiveness, renew our faith, and yield ourselves to the healing work of the Holy Spirit.
The bread reminds us of Christโs body, broken for us. The cup reminds us of His bloodโthe blood of the new covenant, shed for the remission of sins. Every time we partake, we proclaim the Lordโs death until He comes.
Communion directs our hearts back to Jesus, whose finished work brings salvation, forgiveness, healing, and freedom.
Transition to Worship
Now that we have received Godโs Word, let us turn our hearts toward worship. Proverbs 4:20โ27 teaches us to listen carefully to Godโs instruction, keep His words in our hearts, and guard our hearts above all elseโfor they bring life and health to our whole body.
As we worship, let us focus our eyes on Jesus, speak His promises, and trust His healing power. Let worship rise from a heart that believes: Godโs Word is life, His presence brings wholeness, and His faithfulness is our confidence.
