How To Hear The Prophetic Voice Of God

Updated: Aug 25, 2021

Proverbs 4:20-27

Authorized (King James) Version

20 My son, attend to my words;

incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes;

keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them,

and health to all their flesh.

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence;

for out of it are the issues of life.

24 Put away from thee a froward mouth,

and perverse lips put far from thee.

25 Let thine eyes look right on,

and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26 Ponder the path of thy feet,

and let all thy ways be established.

27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left:

remove thy foot from evil.

This scripture passage clearly says that the Bible comes back out of you when you put it inside you. Word in, Word out. To hear the prophetic voice of God, put the Bible in your heart and it will come back out.

The Bible Will Speak to You

Proverbs 6:20-23

Authorized (King James) Version

20 My son, keep thy father’s commandment,

and forsake not the law of thy mother:

21 bind them continually upon thine heart,

and tie them about thy neck.

22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee;

when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee;

and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light;

and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

The Bible Is Alive

Hebrews 4:12-14

New Living Translation

12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

Guard Your Heart From the World With the Bible

Proverbs 4:20-27, quoted above, clearly tells us that the Bible will create a new person in us as we hear and see it. This is talking about our sensory-system. Our sensory-system has five gates, or, portals, to the human heart. The ears, eyes, nose, mouth and hands. To hear, see, smell, taste and feel.

Pr. 4:20 says for us to incline our ear to God's sayings, or, to His Word, the Bible. This means to listen to the Bible spoken from other people at church and on social media devices.

Pr. 4:21 says for us not to let God's Word depart from our eyes. This means to be always reading and studying the Bible for ourselves. Pr. 4:21 also says to keep God's Word in the midst of our hearts. This means that the Bible, when listened to and read, goes into our hearts through the ear and eye gates of the sensory-system.

Pr. 4:22 says that the Bible gives life and health to our bodies once it's inside our hearts through the ears and eyes. It cleanses the world from our hearts.

Pr. 4:23 tells us to guard our hearts with the Bible because the issues of life come from the heart. In other words, if you want a holy and good life, stay in the Word and out of the world. Put the Word in your heart through your ears and eyes. It will then cleanse the heart from the world and its evil ways.

Pr. 4:24 says for us to put away, or, repent of, an evil heart with an abusive mouth and perverse lips. This tells us that the Word, once in the heart through the ears and eyes, will change the way we talk. It will cleanse our speech.

Pr. 4:25 says to look straight ahead and to look at what's in front of us. This is talking about staying focused on the Word's straight and narrow path to heaven (Mt. 7:13, 14). This verse tells us that the Word, once in the heart through the ears and eyes, will change our perspective and the way we think and view life. The Bible will help us repent of an evil heart with faithless eyes that look away instead of stay focused on the Lord and His Word (Mt. 14:22-33). The Word will cleanse our minds.

Pr. 4:26 says for us to think about the path of our feet because where we walk, constitutes our ways. This verse insinuates that the Bible, once it is in the heart through the ear and eye gates, will help us repent of an evil heart with backsliding and worldly ways. The Word will cleanse our ways and the path our feet takes us on.

Pr. 4:27 says not to get faithless, but to remove our feet from danger. This means that the Bible will make us repent of the danger of turning away from the Word to the world. This is dangerous to the life and health of our hearts. This verse insinuates that the Bible, once in the heart through the ear and eye gates, will make us repent of an evil heart and of turning from God back to the world, or, backsliding. The Word will cleanse our hearts and minds.

Pr. 4:20-27 begin with verses 20 and 21 commanding us to keep the Bible in our hearts through the ears and eyes. To always listen to the Word and to always read it. To keep a constant flow of the Bible into our hearts through the ears and eyes, will come back out of our mouths, eyes, hands and feet and change our hearts. It will cleanse our hearts and body's. The Bible will give us new speech, a new outlook, and a new life. God calls this being born again (1 Pt. 1:22, 23), and the cleansing of the Word (Ps. 119:9/ Eph. 5:25, 26).

What Is the World?

The Lust of the Flesh, the Lust of the Eyes, and the Pride of Life

1 John 2:15-17

Authorized (King James) Version

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Sanctification From the World With the Bible

The Bible Will Keep the World Out of Our Hearts

John 17:13-19

Authorized (King James) Version {Paraphrased}

13 {And Jesus said} And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Once we live for the Lord by always attending to the words of God in the Bible, we will begin to hear the prophetic voice of God. Word in, Word out. Staying in the Bible will keep the world out of us so that we can hear the Holy Spirit speaking scriptures to our memory. Staying in the Word will put the Word in our heart and memory. The Word goes into the heart through the ears and eyes and then goes into the memory. From the memory, the Holy Spirit will begin to speak to us.

The Prophetic Voice of God

John 14:26

Authorized (King James) Version {Paraphrased}

26 {And Jesus said} But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Once the Word is in our hearts through the ears and eyes, the Holy Spirit will begin to remind us of the Words of the Bible when we need them. The Holy Spirit will speak scriptures prophetically to our memory when we need them that pertain exactly to what we have been trying to say, what we need to hear and see and these scriptures from the Holy Spirit, will speak perfectly to our personal situations in life.

The Holy Spirit repeats the Bible to our memory. He glorifies Christ when He speaks to our memory what He hears from Christ. This is called prophecy (Jn. 16:12-15). The passages or verses that the Holy Spirit reminds us of are prophetic and spiritual. These messages would surmise the gifts of the Spirit in 1 Cor. 12.

The Nine Gifts of the Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:1-11

Authorized (King James) Version

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

1) The Word of Wisdom v. 8

2) The Word of Knowledge v. 8

3) Faith v. 9

4) Healing v. 9

5) Miracles v. 10

6) Prophecy v. 10

7) Discerning of Spirits v. 10

8)Tongues v. 10

9) The Interpretation of Tongues v. 10

The prophetic scriptures given to your memory by the Holy Spirit, are the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, prophecy, tongues and the interpretation of tongues. Those exact scriptures that come prophetically to your memory, are from the Holy Spirit, and that prophetic voice, is the prophetic voice of God. The prophetic voice of God is the Holy Spirit quoting scripture, or, whatever Jesus has said, to our memory.

How does one hear the prophetic voice of God? Put the Word in your heart and memory through your ears and eyes. Listen to the Bible and read the Bible at all times, and the Bible will begin to speak living passages and verses to your memory. The Bible is the voice of the Holy Spirit.
