The Holy Spirit Is God

Updated: Mar 22

Acts 5:1-5

Authorized (King James) Version

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

God has been talking to me about the Holy Spirit. He's been saying that people don't glorify Him as God because we don't understand that He is God. People don't understand the value of the Holy Spirit because they don't see Him (Jn. 14:16, 17). We all know that the Holy Spirit is God, even though we don't understand it. So, I want to give you scripture references that you can read to see more clearly that the Holy Spirit is God so that you can understand two things,

  1. That you're in heaven today (Jn. 14:1-3/ Lk. 17:20, 21/ Rom. 14:17).

  2. You don't have to wait until you die or wait for the resurrection to meet God (Heb. 12:18-29) because it is God that comes to live inside you when you get baptized into the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38, 39). You're already in fellowship with God inside the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is God

So, we have Acts 5:1-5 above. The apostle Peter tells Ananias & Sapphira that they lied to the Holy Spirit, to God. Verse 3 calls Him the Holy Spirit. Then verse 4 calls Him God. They lied to God the Holy Spirit.

The First Time He is Called the Holy Spirit

2. Ps. 51:11 is the first term calling Him the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Names the Holy Spirit as Part of the Godhead

In Mt. 28:19, 20 Jesus names the Holy Spirit as part of the Godhead along with God the Father and Himself. God the Father is the will of the Godhead. Jesus is the word, or, the one who speaks, for the Godhead, and the Holy Spirit is the creator of the Godhead. The Holy Spirit does what God wills and Jesus says.

The Holy Spirit was Involved in Creation

Gen. 1:2 says that the Holy Spirit was involved in creation with God and Jesus. The Holy Spirit was hovering over the dark waters (the abyss), and it was Jesus who said, "Let there be Light" (Heb. 1:1-3). Verse 3 implies that the Holy Spirit created the Light because verse 2 says that He was hovering over the waters.

The Holy Spirit Created Mankind

Job 33:4 says that the Holy Spirit was involved in the creation of mankind like He was involved in creation.

The Holy Spirit Created Jesus

Lk. 1:35 says that the Holy Spirit created Jesus inside of Mary without sexual contact with a man.

The Holy Spirit Makes People Born Again with Eternal Life

Jn. 3:1-8 and Ti. 3:4-7 say that the Holy Spirit, not God the Father or Jesus, makes people born again with eternal life.

The Holy Spirit Raised Jesus from the Dead

And Will Also Raise All Christians from the Dead in the First Resurrection

Rom. 8:11 says that it is the Holy Spirit that raised Christ from the dead and will also raise us to life in the First Resurrection (1 Thes. 4:13-18/ 1 Cor. 15:50-58).

The Holy Spirit is the One that Imparts the Spiritual Gifts

1 Cor. 12:7-11 says that it is the Holy Spirit that imparts the spiritual gifts like tongues and prophecy which this website comes from.

God the Father doesn't do these things. God the Man, Jesus, doesn't do these things. Only God the Holy Spirit does these things. The angels can't do these things. This means that the Holy Spirit is God.

Now that you know that the Holy Spirit is God. You need to know that you're in heaven now inside of Him and that you don't have to wait to get to heaven (the New Jerusalem - Rev. 21 & 22) to know God because the Holy Spirit is equally God like the Father and Jesus are God.

The Holy Spirit Replaced Christ as Lord and God on Earth

Acts 13:1-3

Authorized (King James) Version

13 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

Heaven is a State of Being Inside the Holy Spirit

The Kingdom of God is Inside the Holy Spirit

John 14:1-3

Authorized (King James) Version

14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Jesus said that He was going to leave then come back in the future so that where He was, there we may be also. How can the dead in Christ and those in the future be where Jesus was when He said this? He means that He'll come back after everyone gets saved and is living inside the Holy Spirit like He was when He said this. Yes, Jesus is talking about the Holy Spirit in this passage. He's saying that the Kingdom of God is a state of being inside the Holy Spirit, not just the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21 & 22).

The Kingdom of God is Inside the Holy Spirit

Inside of You

Luke 17:20-21

Authorized (King James) Version

{Paraphrased}

20 And when {Jesus} was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Romans 14:17

Authorized (King James) Version

17 for the kingdom of God is not meat and drink;

But righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

You're in heaven when you get baptized into the Holy Spirit because heaven is the kingdom of God inside the Holy Spirit inside of you. It is a state of being. A spiritual kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy inside the Holy Spirit inside of you.

So, when you get anointed by God, that state of being inside the Holy Spirit; that state of living inside the Holy Spirit, is heaven. You don't have to wait until you die or for the resurrection to go to heaven because you're in heaven inside the Holy Spirit. Those spiritual senses of joy, peace and love are what heaven is. That joy, peace and love are not human feelings. Those are the feelings or spiritual senses of the Holy Spirit inside you.

So, know that you don't have to wait until you die or for the resurrection to meet God because the Holy Spirit is God, and in this life when He comes to live inside of you through the baptism into the Holy Spirit, you have met God.

How to Meet God

Romans 10:9-10

Authorized (King James) Version

that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Acts 2:38-39

Authorized (King James) Version

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The Holy Spirit is Heaven's Guarantee

Have You Received the Holy Spirit Since You Believed in Jesus?

Acts 19:1-6

Authorized (King James) Version

19 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 he said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on Him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

To Receive the Baptism into the Holy Spirit

All We Need to Do is Ask God for Him!

Luke 11:1-13

Authorized (King James) Version

{Paraphrased}

11 And it came to pass, that, as {Jesus} was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said unto Him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And He said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

5 And He said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? 7 and he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

The Holy Spirit is Heaven's Guarantee

Ephesians 1:13, 14

Living Bible

13 And because of what Christ did, all you others too, who heard the Good News about how to be saved, and trusted Christ, were marked as belonging to Christ by the Holy Spirit, who long ago had been promised to all of us Christians.
