Foreword

Faith is more than agreeing that God exists. It is a living trust in Jesus Christ—one that changes the heart, shapes our relationships, and teaches us to depend on the Holy Spirit. In Mark 11:22–26, Jesus joins faith-filled prayer with the responsibility to forgive.

This message is an invitation to examine our hearts. God desires to move mountains, answer prayer, and empower His people, but He also calls us to walk in love. May these words encourage you to seek God sincerely, release unforgiveness, and grow in fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

“And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins.’”— 1 Peter 4:8, NKJV

Faith in God

Jesus teaches that faith in God can move what appears impossible. He calls us to believe God’s promises and to pray with confidence—not in our own strength, but in the power and faithfulness of God.

“Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”— Mark 11:22–24, NKJV

Faith Must Work Through Love

Faith in Jesus is essential, but biblical faith is never separated from love. The power of faith is not a license to demand our own will; it operates in relationship with God and seeks what pleases Him. Scripture says:

“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.”— Galatians 5:6, NKJV

If love is absent, our spiritual life becomes hindered. God is love, and the gifts and manifestations of the Spirit must be exercised for the building up of others—not for pride, control, or personal glory.

“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”— 1 John 4:8, NKJV

Forgiveness and Prayer

Jesus connects powerful prayer with a forgiving heart. Before we stand before God asking for help, we must examine whether we are holding resentment against anyone.

“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”— Mark 11:25–26, NKJV

Unforgiveness does not cancel God’s love or mean that He abandons His children, but it does hinder our fellowship with Him. A heart that refuses to forgive is walking in disobedience, and Scripture warns that sin can hinder our prayers:

“If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear.”— Psalm 66:18, NKJV

Be Reconciled

Jesus also taught us to pursue reconciliation rather than bringing religious activity while refusing to make peace.

“First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”— Matthew 5:24, NKJV

Forgiveness does not always mean returning to an unsafe relationship or pretending that harm did not happen. It means releasing vengeance to God, choosing obedience, and refusing to let bitterness govern the heart. Where possible and wise, we should seek peace and reconciliation.

Born Again and Empowered by the Holy Spirit

We are not called merely to believe facts about Jesus; we must receive new life from the Holy Spirit. Jesus said:

“Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”— John 3:3, NKJV

The Holy Spirit gives believers power to live for Christ and to witness. Jesus promised:

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me.”— Acts 1:8, NKJV

Spiritual authority is not a performance or a formula. It flows from belonging to Christ, walking in obedience, abiding in His love, and relying on the Holy Spirit. We must never presume to confront darkness in our own strength.

Faith, Love, and the Power of God

Faith grows as we hear and receive God’s Word:

“So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”— Romans 10:17, NKJV

But faith must be joined to love, forgiveness, holiness, and dependence upon the Holy Spirit. The gifts of the Spirit are given to serve others and glorify God:

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.”— 1 Corinthians 12:7, NKJV

If we want faith that moves mountains, we must walk in love. If we want fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we must surrender unforgiveness. If we want our prayers to please God, we must pursue a right relationship with Him and with others.

Conclusion

The goal of life is to please God. Through the blood of the New Covenant, those who belong to Christ have forgiveness and assurance that God will never abandon them. Yet we should not treat sin lightly. Unforgiveness dries up our fellowship, hinders love, and weakens our spiritual witness.

Let us believe the Word, be born again by the Spirit, forgive as we have been forgiven, and walk in the love of God. Then our faith will not be empty words—it will be faith working through love, bringing glory to Jesus Christ.

The Bible Is Your Source for Faith in God

The faith to believe that God can and will do the impossible comes from the Bible. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

This means that faith can be small—even as small as a mustard seed—but faith itself is not what moves the mountain. God does. God is great, and He is the source of the power. Faith is small because it is formed through the words of Scripture. God’s promises create faith in us, and when we read and hear them, our faith grows.

So, when Jesus says, “Have faith in God” in Mark 11:22, what does He imply? He is directing us to trust God by receiving His Word, because the Bible creates faith in God—the faith to believe that He can move mountains. The Bible is the source of our faith in God.

Epilogue

As you continue your walk with Christ, remember that spiritual power begins with surrender. Faith that moves mountains is not human strength, positive thinking, or spiritual performance. It is the power of God working through a surrendered vessel. Jesus said, “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22, NKJV), directing us to trust God—not ourselves—as the source of every miracle and victory.

God creates and strengthens our faith through His Word:

“So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17, NKJV

The Bible is the source of our faith in God. Through Scripture, the Holy Spirit reveals God’s promises, builds our confidence, and teaches us to believe that He can do what is impossible. Even faith as small as a mustard seed becomes powerful when it is placed in the hands of a great and faithful God.

The same Holy Spirit who creates faith through the Word also works forgiveness in our hearts. When we repent and obey, God begins to uproot bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness. Forgiveness does not deny the pain we have experienced, nor does it always mean returning to an unsafe relationship. It means releasing vengeance to God, refusing to let bitterness govern our hearts, and choosing obedience to Christ.

When people hurt you, bring the pain to God. Forgive as an act of obedience while using wisdom and maintaining healthy boundaries where necessary. Reconciliation may take time, but bitterness does not have to remain in control of your heart.

The Holy Spirit is the power who uproots and moves mountains. He brings the Word to life within us, produces faith, teaches us to love, removes unforgiveness, and empowers us to walk in obedience. We are not the source of the power—we are the vessel. The mountain moves because God moves it, and He works through those who believe His Word, obey His voice, and remain yielded to His Spirit.

Therefore, keep returning to the Word of God. Let Scripture create faith in you. Repent quickly when the Holy Spirit reveals sin. Forgive as you have been forgiven. Walk in love, and allow your life to testify to God’s transforming power.

Let your faith be seen through love, your prayers be shaped by God’s will, and your life be empowered by the Holy Spirit. May the Lord strengthen you to stand firm, overcome every mountain, and remain ready for the coming of Jesus Christ.

Faith comes through God’s Word. Forgiveness comes through repentance and obedience. The Holy Spirit supplies the power. We are the vessels—and Jesus Christ receives all the glory.

“And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us.” — Ephesians 5:2, NKJV

Transition: From the Eye Gate to the Ear Gate—From Word to Worship

Having looked upon the truth of God’s Word, we must now allow that truth to enter through the ear gate and settle deeply within our spirit. What we see can capture our attention, but what we hear repeatedly can shape our faith, renew our minds, and direct our steps.

The Word of God is not meant to remain merely something we read with our eyes. It must become something we hear, receive, believe, and live. Faith comes by hearing, and worship becomes our response to what God has spoken.

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.”— Proverbs 4:20, NKJV

The Ear Gate Receives the Word

The ear gate is a place of spiritual formation. What we continually listen to can influence our thoughts, emotions, desires, and decisions. That is why Solomon tells us to incline our ears to God’s sayings. We must intentionally turn away from voices that produce fear, confusion, bitterness, and unbelief, and listen for the voice of the Lord.

God’s Word brings life, healing, correction, and direction:

“For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.”— Proverbs 4:22, NKJV

When the Word enters our ears and reaches our hearts, it begins to transform the way we see everything. We no longer interpret God through our circumstances; we interpret our circumstances through God’s Word.

From Hearing the Word to Worship

The Word gives us the revelation of who God is. Worship is our response to that revelation. We move from simply reading about His greatness to declaring His greatness. We move from information to transformation—from the Word to worship.

When we hear that God is faithful, we worship Him for His faithfulness. When we hear that He is holy, we surrender to His holiness. When we hear that He forgives, we release our own bitterness and extend forgiveness to others.

Worship is not merely music or singing. Worship is the heart responding to the voice of God through obedience, surrender, thanksgiving, and love.

Guard What Enters Your Heart

Solomon continues:

“Keep your heart with all diligence,

For out of it spring the issues of life.”— Proverbs 4:23, NKJV

The heart is the meeting place between what we hear and how we live. If we continually listen to ungodly voices, they can plant seeds of doubt and disobedience. But when we give attention to God’s Word, His truth takes root within us.

Therefore, we must guard our ears, our eyes, and our hearts {hear no evil. See no evil. Speak no evil}. Not everything deserves our attention, and not every voice deserves our agreement.

Let Your Worship Change Your Speech

Proverbs also instructs us:

“Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you.”— Proverbs 4:24, NKJV

What fills the heart eventually comes out of the mouth {Word in, Word out - Luke 6:43-49}. When we hear God’s Word and worship Him sincerely, our speech should begin to change. Complaining gives way to thanksgiving. Fear gives way to faith. Cursing gives way to blessing. Bitterness gives way to forgiveness.

We cannot continually feed on negativity and expect to speak faith. What we hear influences what we believe, and what we believe influences what we say.

Focus Your Eyes and Direct Your Steps

The transition from the eye gate to the ear gate does not mean that our eyes are unimportant. Rather, it means that our eyes must be brought into agreement with what God has spoken.

“Let your eyes look straight ahead,

And your eyelids look right before you.”— Proverbs 4:25, NKJV

We must stop allowing distractions to pull us away from God’s purpose. When our ears are attentive to His Word and our hearts are surrendered in worship, our eyes can remain focused on the path He has prepared.

Then Solomon says:

“Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.”— Proverbs 4:26, NKJV

True worship produces a changed walk. We do not merely hear God—we follow Him. We do not merely sing about surrender—we practice obedience. We do not merely praise Him with our lips—we honor Him with our lives.

Do Not Turn to the Right or Left

Finally, Scripture says:

“Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.”— Proverbs 4:27, NKJV

The Word gives us direction, worship gives us surrender, and obedience keeps us on the path. As we transition from the eye gate to the ear gate, we must allow God’s voice to become louder than every competing voice.

Let us hear the Word, receive the Word, speak the Word, and worship the God of the Word. What enters through the ear gate must produce faith in the heart, praise on the lips, and obedience in the life.

We move from the Word to worship—from seeing what God has written to hearing what God is saying, and from hearing His voice to walking in His ways.
