The Bible Interprets Itself

2 Peter 1:16-21
Modern English Version

Christ’s Glory and the Prophetic Word

Are Not the Personal Interpretations of the Writers of the Bible

16 For we have not followed cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.
17 For He received honor and glory from God the Father when a voice came to Him from the majestic glory, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” [2 Peter 1:17; Mt 17:5; Mk 9:7; Lk 9:35.]
18 And we ourselves heard this voice, which came from heaven, when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
19 And we have a more reliable word of prophecy, which you would do well to follow, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.
20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of the Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation.
21 For no prophecy at any time was produced by the will of man, but holy men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

The Bible Interprets Itself

I'm Not Repeating Myself

I hear people say that the scripture references in my posts say the same thing that I do. That they repeat what I said. The reason for this is to show you that what I'm saying is in the Bible and not from my own interpretation. The Bible, what God says, is the authority for the truth that we speak and not our own interpretation. The Bible interprets itself. I'm not repeating myself.

The opening passage, 2 Pt. 1:16-21, says in verse 21 that God spoke what the writers of the Bible wrote, not they themselves. You have to make sure that you believe and write only what God says to you in the Bible, instead of believe anything and whatever anyone says.

Galatians 1:6-10
New International Version

No Other Gospel

6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—
7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

1 John 4:1-6
Modern English Version

{Paraphrased}

Test the Spirits Inside the Preachers

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit {inside the preachers}, but test the spirits {inside them with the word of God} to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets {who teach error from devils} have gone out into the world.
2 This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses {with the mouth of the preacher} that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
3 and every spirit {with the mouth of the preacher} that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist {inside the preachers}, which you have heard is coming and is already in the world.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because {the Spirit of God} in you is greater than {the serpent} who is in the world.
5 {These false teachers} are of {this} world {which Satan rules}, and therefore they speak from the world {concerning money, fame and power obtained through violence}, and the world listens to them {because they are kinsmen}.
6 We are of God, and whoever knows God listens to us {because we are kinsmen through the Spirit & the Word inside of us all}. Whoever is not of God does not listen to us {because the Spirit of God is not inside them}. This is how we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

The Bible Is Alive

Hebrews 4:12
Modern English Version

12 For the word of God is alive, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow,
and able to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart.

It Talks to You

Proverbs 6:20-22

New King James Version

20 My son, keep your father’s command,

And do not forsake the law of your mother.

21 Bind them continually upon your heart;

Tie them around your neck.

22 When you roam, {it} will lead you;

When you sleep, they will keep you;

And when you awake, they will speak with you.

It Reminds You of What It Says

John 14:24-26
Modern English Version

24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words. The word which you hear is not Mine, but the Fathers who sent Me.
25 “I have spoken these things to you while I am still with you.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,
will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.

World without end. Amen.
