Many churches teach different views concerning the timing of the rapture: pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, and post-tribulation. Yet when the biblical passages are read in their stated order, they present a consistent sequence: tribulation, cosmic signs, the appearing of Christ, and the gathering of His elect.
This message is an invitation to return to the Word of God. It is not a call to follow tradition, denominational preference, or the latest prophetic theory. It is a call to examine Scripture personally, prayerfully, and honestly.
Jesus warned that deception would increase in the last days. Therefore, believers must remain watchful, spiritually prepared, and grounded in the truth. No one knows the day or hour of Christโs return except the Father. Our responsibility is not to set dates, but to remain faithfulโto study the Scriptures, endure in faith, proclaim the gospel, and live ready for the Lord.

The Biblical Case for a Post-Tribulation Rapture
The Biblical Timing of the Rapture
Many churches teach one of three views concerning the timing of the rapture:
Pre-tribulation rapture
Mid-tribulation rapture
Post-tribulation rapture
However, when the relevant passages are read in sequence, Scripture presents the gathering of believers as occurring after the tribulation. This should cause every believer who regards the Bible as Godโs Word to examine the matter carefully.
Jesus taught that believers must be born again through the work of the Holy Spirit (John 3:1โ21). Genuine faith should produce a growing desire to know God through His Word. Christians should not depend entirely on popular teachings, denominational traditions, or respected leaders. They should search the Scriptures personally and test every doctrine against what the Bible actually says.
Romans 8:9 teaches that anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him. This is a serious warning. A person may sincerely claim to believe in Jesus while remaining unfamiliar with Scripture or accepting teachings that contradict it. Therefore, believers should examine not only what they profess, but also whether their lives demonstrate a genuine hunger for Godโs truth, obedience, and spiritual growth.
Jesus warned in Matthew 24 that false prophets would arise, especially in the last days. False teaching may come through confident leaders, impressive predictions, or popular religious systems. For this reason, Christians must remain alert and carefully evaluate every claim. A teaching should never be accepted simply because it is widespread or promoted by influential churches.
Scripture repeatedly emphasizes that the exact time of Christโs return is known only by the Father:
โBut about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.โ โMatthew 24:36
Jesus also said that the times and seasons remain under the Fatherโs authority (Acts 1:7). This means that no one can discover or announce the exact day and hour of Christโs return. The proper response is not date-setting, but constant readiness, faithful witness, and perseverance.
The Feast of Trumpets and the Hidden Day
Rosh Hashanah, also known as the Feast of Trumpets, was associated in Jewish thought with the phrase Yom HaKeseh, meaning โthe hidden day.โ The date of the feast depended on the sighting of the new moon. Because the precise beginning could not be known in advance, the celebration was observed over two days to avoid beginning it on the wrong day.
In this context, the expression โof that day and hour no one knowsโ became associated with the Feast of Trumpets. Jesus used similar language when describing His return:
โWhen you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the doorโฆ No one knows about that day or hourโฆ but only the Father.โ โMatthew 24:32โ36
Jesus did not give His followers a date to calculate. Instead, He gave them signs to recognize the approaching season and commanded them to remain watchful.
The Order Presented in Scripture
Matthew 24 places the events in this order:
Believers experience persecution and tribulation.
The abomination of desolation appears.
Great tribulation takes place.
Cosmic signs occur immediately afterward.
The Son of Man appears in glory.
The angels gather the elect with a great trumpet.
Paul likewise warned that the Day of the Lord would not come until the rebellion occurred and the man of sin was revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:1โ4). He also described believers being caught up to meet the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:16โ17).
When these passages are read together, they place the gathering of believers after the tribulation and after the signs associated with Christโs return. Scripture does not plainly state that the rapture occurs before the Antichrist, before the great tribulation, or in the middle of it. Instead, the revealed sequence points to a post-tribulation gathering.
The central issue, therefore, is not which teaching is most popular, but which teaching is faithful to Scripture. Believers should study the Bible carefully, test every doctrine, reject date-setting, and remain ready at all times for the return of Jesus Christ.
Testing Faith, Scripture, and False Prophecy
If the Bible teaches a postโtribulation rapture, yet many Christians follow false propheciesย such as preโtribulation or midโtribulation rapture doctrines, what does that say about the church? It suggests that many who attend churchโboth leaders and congregantsโmay not actually be grounded in Scripture, and in some cases may not be genuine Christians at all.
The Catholic Church is one of the few major churches that does notย teach preโtrib or midโtrib rapture. It teaches the postโtribulationย gathering described plainly in Scripture. Realistically, many believers who accept unbiblical teachings areย saved, but they simply do not know the Bible well.
However, salvation is not merely believing that Jesus exists. Jesus taught that faith in Him brings the Holy Spirit, who causes a person to be born againย so they can seeย and enterย the kingdom of God (John 3:1โ21). Being born again is the work of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4โ7), and this happens when a person is baptized into the Holy Spiritย (Acts 1:8).
One of the first things the Holy Spirit does in a believerโs life is create a hunger for Scripture. Most mature Christians have Bibles that are worn, marked, underlined, and studied. So if believers never study the Bible for themselvesโnever discover that Scripture only teaches a postโtribulationย raptureโwhy is that? Why do they believe preโtrib or midโtrib teachings instead of the Bible?
If they truly have the Holy Spirit living inside them, why are they not reading the Word?
I learned about the postโtribulation rapture through my own personal Bible study. Anyone who has the Holy Spirit and studies Scripture carefully would see the same thing. Romans 8:9 says that if a person does not have the Holy Spirit, they do not belong to Christโeven if they claim to believe in Him. Jesus said we mustย be born again. Therefore, I conclude that many people who embrace false teachings may not be genuine conversions and may not have the Holy Spirit.
Jesus warned in Matthew 24:1โ28 that in the last days false prophetsย would be everywhere. He even refers to the devil as one of these false prophetsโnot the Antichrist. Jesus describes a systemย of false prophets leading up to the end. We are living in those days now. Preโtribulation teachers fall into the category of false prophets Jesus warned about.
Most mainstream churches teach the preโtribulation rapture. People who do not know Scripture also do not know that the times and seasons are not revealed in the Bibleโthey belong to the Father alone (Acts 1:7โ8). The only rapture described in Scripture is the postโtribulationย gathering.
People in the world constantly try to determine the exact date of Jesusโ return so they can โget readyโ at the last minute. But Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 that no one knows the day or hourโnot the angels, not even the Son, but only the Father. This means the date is not found in the Bible or anywhere in the world. It exists only in the mind of God the Father.
The more you know Scripture, the more obvious this becomes.
People who do not know the Word are the ones trying to calculate dates instead of witnessing and living faithfully. They want a date so they can prepare at the last moment. But Jesus says that because we will neverย know the day or hour, the only way to be prepared is to live ready every moment.
โญ What the Bible actuallyย says โ in order
Every passage that gives a sequence places the gathering/rapture afterย the tribulation.
1. Tribulation happens to believers
Jesus:
โThen they will deliver youย up to tribulation.โ (Matthew 24:9)
2. Antichrist appears before the Day of the Lord
Paul:
โThat day shall NOT come exceptโฆ the man of sin be revealed.โ (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
3. Great tribulation
Jesus:
โThen shall be great tribulation.โ (Matthew 24:21)
4. Cosmic signs โ AFTER the tribulation
Jesus:
โImmediately afterย the tribulationโฆ the sun will be darkened.โ (Matthew 24:29)
5. Christ appears
Jesus:
โThen shall appear the sign of the Son of Man.โ (Matthew 24:30)
6. Rapture / gathering of the elect
Jesus:
โHe will send His angelsโฆ they will gather His elect.โ (Matthew 24:31)
Paul:
โWe will be caught upโฆ to meet the Lord.โ (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
John:
โThe seventh trumpetโฆ the time of the dead to be judged.โ (Revelation 11:15โ18)
This is postโtribulation, postโAntichrist, postโcosmic signs, postโseals, postโtrumpets 1โ6.
โญ What about preโtrib and midโtrib?
Hereโs the key: There is not a single verseย that places the rapture beforeย the tribulation or in the middleย of it.
Not one.
If preโtrib or midโtrib were biblical, you would see verses saying:
the rapture happens beforeย the Antichrist
the rapture happens beforeย the great tribulation
the rapture happens beforeย the cosmic signs
the rapture happens beforeย the Day of the Lord
the rapture happens beforeย the resurrection
the rapture happens beforeย the last trumpet
But Scripture never says any of that.
Instead, every one of those events is placed beforeย the rapture.
โญ So, which teaching is actually in the Bible?
Postโtribulation.ย ย It is the only one Jesus, Paul, and John all teach in the same order.
Preโtrib and midโtrib are later theological systems โ not Scripture.
๐ THE GREAT UNFOLDING โ A Prophetic Story from Daniel, Jesus, Paul, and Revelation
Prologue โ The Ancient Dreamer (Daniel 2, 7, 9, 10โ12)
Long before the disciples walked the dusty roads of Galilee, a young exile named Danielย stood in Babylon, staring into visions that shook his bones.
He saw kingdoms rising and falling, beasts roaring from the sea, and a final ruler โ fierce, boastful, speaking great things โ who would trample the saints for a time, times, and half a time.
Daniel trembled as he heard a holy one say:
โIt will last 1,290 daysโฆ Blessed is he who waits and reaches 1,335 days.โ
He saw the Ancient of Daysย take His seat. He saw the Son of Manย coming with the clouds. He saw the saints receiving the kingdom forever.
And then the angel said:
โSeal the book until the time of the end.โ
The story went quiet.
For centuries.
๐ Act I โ The Son of Man Appears (Gospels)
In the fullness of time, the One Daniel saw in the clouds walked among men.
Jesus of Nazareth.
He healed the sick, raised the dead, and spoke with an authority that made demons scream. But He also spoke of the future โ the very visions Daniel saw.
On the Mount of Olives, He told His disciples:
โWhen you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophetโฆโ
The disciples leaned in.
Jesus continued:
False christsย will arise.
Wars and rumors of warsย will shake nations.
Famines, earthquakes, and pestilencesย will spread.
Believers will be hated, betrayed, and killed.
Lawlessness will increase.
The gospel will be preached to all nations.
Then He said the words Daniel longed to hear:
โImmediately afterย the tribulation of those daysโฆ the sun will be darkenedโฆ the powers of heaven will be shakenโฆ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man.โ
The disciples imagined the sky splitting open.
Jesus finished:
โHe will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather His elect.โ
The story was no longer sealed.
๐ฅ Act II โ The Apostolic Warning (Paul & Peter)
Years later, Paul wrote to a young church troubled by rumors that the Day of the Lord had already come.
He told them:
โLet no one deceive you. That day will NOT come unless the falling awayย comes first and the man of sinย is revealed.โ
Paul described the same figure Daniel saw โ the arrogant ruler who sits in Godโs temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
He warned of:
Strong delusion
Lying signs and wonders
Persecution of the saints
But he also spoke of hope:
โWe will be caught upโฆ at the last trumpet.โ
Peter added:
โThe heavens will pass away with a great noiseโฆ the elements will meltโฆ but we look for a new heavens and a new earth.โ
The apostles echoed Jesus. Jesus echoed Daniel. The story tightened.
๐ Act III โ The Final Week (Revelation 6โ19)
John, exiled on Patmos, was taken into the throne room of God.
He saw the Lamb open the seals.
Seal 1 โ A white horse
A conqueror rises.
Seal 2 โ A red horse
War spreads.
Seal 3 โ A black horse
Famine grips the earth.
Seal 4 โ A pale horse
Death claims a quarter of humanity.
Seal 5 โ The cry of martyrs
Believers slain for their testimony cry out, โHow long, O Lord?โ
Seal 6 โ Cosmic collapse
The sun darkens. The moon turns blood-red. The stars fall. The sky rolls back like a scroll.
Jesusโ words from the Mount of Olives echo through the heavens.
Then comes the moment Daniel foresaw:
Seal 7 โ Silence in heaven
The final sequence begins.
Trumpets blast. Judgments fall. The beast rises. The false prophet deceives. The mark is enforced. The saints endure.
And then โ at the seventh trumpetย โ voices thunder:
โThe kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.โ
The dead are judged. The saints are rewarded. The mystery is finished.
โ๏ธ Act IV โ The Return of the King (Revelation 19)
Heaven opens.
A white horse appears.
The Rider is called Faithful and True. His eyes are flames. His robe is dipped in blood. His name is The Word of God.
The armies of heaven follow Him.
The beast and false prophet are seized. Their empire collapses. The King reigns.
๐ Act V โ The Kingdom and the Ages to Come (Revelation 20โ22)
Satan is bound. The saints reign with Christ. The final rebellion is crushed. The great white throne is set.
Then John sees it:
A new heaven. A new earth. A city of goldย descending like a bride.
No more death. No more sorrow. No more curse.
The river of life flows from the throne. The tree of life heals the nations.
And the story ends with the words that began it:
โBehold, I come quickly.โ
The Feast of Trumpets and the Timing of the Rapture
The Feast of Trumpets, or Yom Teruah, is sometimes connected with the rapture because it involved trumpet blasts, watchfulness, and an uncertain beginning based on the sighting of the new moon. Some Christians see these themes as pointing toward Christโs return.
Why some connect it to the rapture
1. The trumpet call
The feast was announced with trumpet blasts. The New Testament also describes Christโs return with a trumpet:
โThe trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable.โ โ1 Corinthians 15:52
โHe will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect.โ โMatthew 24:31
Because both passages mention a trumpet and the gathering of Godโs people, some interpreters see a prophetic connection.
2. The unknown day and hour
The Feast of Trumpets began when the new moon was sighted. Since no one knew exactly when the first visible crescent would appear, the feast was associated with uncertainty regarding its precise beginning.
Jesus said:
โConcerning that day and hour no one knows.โ โMatthew 24:36
This similarity has led some teachers to associate Christโs return with the Feast of Trumpets.
3. The call to watchfulness
The feast reminded Israel to pay attention, prepare, and respond to Godโs call. Jesus repeatedly commanded His disciples to remain watchful:
โTherefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.โ โMatthew 24:42
In this sense, the feast provides a meaningful biblical picture of readiness.
What the connection does not prove
The Bible does not explicitly say, โThe rapture will occur on the Feast of Trumpets.โ The phrase โno one knows the day or hourโย is not itself a direct prediction of a Jewish feast date. Also, the New Testament uses trumpet imagery in several contexts, including resurrection, Christโs appearing, judgment, and the gathering of the elect.
Most importantly, Matthew 24:29โ31 places the gathering of the elect โimmediately after the tribulation.โย Therefore, the Feast of Trumpets may illustrate the trumpet, uncertainty, and watchfulness associated with Christโs return, but it should not be used to establish an exact date or override the sequence Jesus gave.
A careful conclusion would be:
The Feast of Trumpets may foreshadow themes connected with Christโs return, especially the trumpet call and the need for constant readiness. However, Scripture does not explicitly identify it as the date of the rapture. The timing must be determined by the clear biblical passages, particularly Christโs statement that the gathering of the elect occurs after the tribulation.
Thus, the feast can enrich our understanding of the symbolism, but it should lead to readinessโnot date-setting.
Epilogue
The message of Scripture does not end with tribulation, persecution, or judgment. It ends with the triumph of Jesus Christ.
The King who was rejected will return. The Savior who was crucified will appear in glory. The dead will be raised, the faithful will be gathered, and every kingdom that opposes God will come to an end. Christ will reign, Satan will be defeated, and God will make all things new.
Until that day, the church is called to remain awakeโnot distracted by date-setting, speculation, or fear, but strengthened by the promises of God. We may not know the day or hour, but we know the One who is coming.
Therefore, let us keep our lamps burning, our hearts humble, and our lives faithful. Let us study the Word, proclaim the gospel, endure trials, and encourage one another. The return of Christ is not merely a doctrine to debate; it is a hope that should transform how we live.
โHe who testifies to these things says, โSurely I am coming quickly.โโ
And the faithful answer:
โAmen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.โ
